Biteback to publish memoir by infected blood scandal campaigner Jason Evans
Biteback Publishing has acquired A Son Never Forgets, a memoir by campaigner Jason Evans documenting his decades-long campaign for justice for victims of the infected blood scandal.
Evans was four when his father, Jonathan, died in 1993 after contracting HIV and Hepatitis C through contaminated Factor VIII blood products supplied by the NHS. His campaign helped secure the UK Infected Blood Inquiry and contributed to the creation of a state compensation scheme worth more than GBP12bn.
The memoir combines personal experiences with investigative reporting, exploring grief, memory, inherited trauma and the pursuit of justice while detailing Evans' efforts to uncover the institutional failures behind the scandal.
Evans founded Factor 8 and previously served as its lead campaigner, receiving Campaigner of the Year from the Sheila McKechnie Foundation in 2023 and a Pride of Britain Special Recognition Award in 2024. Since January 2025, he has worked at the Infected Blood Compensation Authority, helping deliver the compensation scheme he campaigned for.
A Son Never Forgets will be published in hardback on 26 November 2026.
