RBmedia expands international publishing with acquisition of Boldwood Books
Audiobook publisher RBmedia and UK-based independent fiction publisher Boldwood Books announced on Tuesday that RBmedia has acquired Boldwood, adding a catalogue of 2,000 titles and expanding its international and foreign language publishing operations. Boldwood will continue to operate as an independent publishing division of RBmedia.
Founded in 2019, Boldwood publishes more than 500 new titles annually across eBook, audiobook and print formats, specialising in mystery, thriller, romance, women's fiction and historical fiction. The publisher has sold more than 50 million books worldwide and was named Independent Publisher of the Year at both the 2025 British Book Awards and the 2025 Independent Publishing Awards, where it also won Trade Publisher of the Year.
RBmedia said the acquisition strengthens its multi-format publishing capabilities and enhances its ability to serve authors and distribution partners globally. Boldwood said the deal combines its publishing expertise with RBmedia's audiobook capabilities and global distribution network while allowing it to remain an independent business.
The transaction closed on 31 July 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
