Silicon Motion introduces SSD reference design for agentic AI infrastructure
Silicon Motion Technology Corporation (NasdaqGS: SIMO), a provider of NAND flash controllers for solid-state storage devices, announced on Monday that it has introduced its MonTitan SSD Reference Design Kit featuring next-generation PerformaShape technology, designed to support enterprise storage requirements for agentic AI infrastructure.
The platform enables enterprise SSDs to act as a persistent memory layer for KV cache offload and autonomous AI agents while providing predictable quality of service, sustained performance and optimised endurance for dynamic workloads.
PerformaShape incorporates an enhanced hardware architecture for multi-dimensional workload shaping, integrated performance monitoring and NVMe TP4176 API support. The technology is integrated into Silicon Motion's SM8366 PCIe 5.0 and SM8466 PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD controllers.
MonTitan is designed to provide SSD manufacturers with a scalable platform for AI servers and data centres, helping accelerate development and deployment of storage solutions for agentic AI applications.
