Manilla Press pre-empts Georgia Moorhouse's debut novel Imaginary Forces

Publishing company Bonnier Books UK announced on Wednesday that its imprint Manilla Press has acquired Imaginary Forces, the debut novel by Georgia Moorhouse, in a two-book pre-empt deal. Senior commissioning editor Zoe Yang secured world all-language rights from Marina de Pass at The Soho Agency.

Described as a powerful exploration of love, obsession and addiction, Imaginary Forces follows the volatile relationship between Robin and Henry after the death of Henry's mother, acclaimed novelist Marian Finch. As Henry becomes consumed by grief and drawn into theories of multiple universes with scientist Yolanda, the three characters become entangled in a destructive love triangle.

Moorhouse was shortlisted for the Women's Prize Discoveries programme in 2024 and longlisted for the 2025 RSL V.S. Pritchett Prize for short fiction.

Yang praised the novel as a "devastating and powerful portrait of love in its many forms," while Moorhouse said she was "thrilled" to be working with Manilla Press.

Imaginary Forces will be released in hardback, eBook and audio in early 2027.
