HarperCollins to publish first children's book by Mythical founders Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal

Book publisher HarperCollins Publishers announced on Monday that HarperCollins Children's Books has acquired Spaghetti Head & Chicken Fingers, the debut picture book from Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, founders of Internet-first entertainment studio Mythical and hosts of Good Mythical Morning.

Illustrated by Erica Salcedo, the title will be released under the HarperPop imprint on 16 June 2026.

Described as a humorous story about friendship, picky eating and trying new things, the book follows two friends whose eating habits quite literally transform them - Saffy wakes up with spaghetti for hair, while Lumo's hands turn into chicken fingers.

Rhett and Link said they hope the book will "spark smiles and laughter for both kids and parents alike," inspired by their own experiences as fathers navigating picky eating.

David Linker, Editorial Director at HarperCollins Children's Books, brokered the North American rights deal with Erin Malone and Janine Kamouh of WME, and Atlanta Japp of Advocate Art representing Salcedo.

The duo's Good Mythical Morning is the Internet's most-watched daily show, earning accolades including Rolling Stone's "25 Most Influential Creators of 2024" and multiple Streamy Awards.

Spanish illustrator Salcedo is known for her playful, character-driven artwork featured in titles such as Kid Normal, while HarperCollins Children's Books continues its tradition of publishing award-winning and bestselling works for young readers worldwide.
