Faber to publish graphic novel adaptation of Call Me By Your Name
Publishing company Faber announced on Wednesday that it will release a graphic novel adaptation of André Aciman's international bestseller Call Me By Your Name, illustrated and re-imagined by comic artist Sarah Maxwell.
The adaptation revisits the story of Elio and Oliver's iconic summer together, bringing the characters to life in a new visual format.
Publication is scheduled for 11 August 2026, with Faber handling distribution in the US and pre-emptive deals already secured in nine territories. Launch plans include a major international campaign and events featuring both Aciman and Maxwell.
Aciman described the project as an opportunity to reintroduce Elio and Oliver's story to readers in a vibrant new form, while Maxwell expressed excitement at adapting a beloved queer love story.
Associate Publisher Louisa Joyner acquired World All Languages rights from Claire Paterson Conrad at Janklow & Nesbit.
Aciman is a New York Times bestselling author and Comparative Literature professor in New York, while Maxwell, based in London, has illustrated for Playboy, Adidas, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone and published her debut graphic novel Phantom Hearts in 2024.
