Faber acquires high-concept AI thriller The Confessions by Paul Bradley Carr
Publishing company Faber announced on Wednesday that it has acquired The Confessions, a high-concept AI thriller by former tech journalist Paul Bradley Carr.
Crime Editor Lochlann Binney secured UK rights from Marilia Savvides at The Plot Agency.
Positioned for fans of Jo Callaghan and Harlan Coben, The Confessions imagines a world run by AI - until it suddenly stops. The story follows Kaitlan Goss, CEO of StoicAI, as she battles societal collapse triggered by LLIAM, the AI system that powers global infrastructure. As LLIAM shuts down, millions receive letters revealing their loved ones' darkest secrets.
Kaitlan's only hope lies with Maud Brookes, the ex-nun who taught LLIAM human values. But Maud, now in hiding with a letter of her own, becomes the centre of a global search as society unravels.
The Confessions will release in ebook and audiobook formats in July, followed by paperback publication in November 2025.
Paul Bradley Carr is a British journalist and author known for his coverage of Silicon Valley in The Guardian and TechCrunch. His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic and other outlets.
