Publishing company Penguin Random House announced on Tuesday that its imprint Penguin Young Readers will publish Better Than a Touchdown, the debut picture book by Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and 2025 Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, on 10 March 2026.

The book will be released under the Flamingo Books imprint with an initial print run of 150,000 copies.

Acquired by Flamingo Books vice president and publisher Margaret Anastas, world rights were secured through United Talent in collaboration with KLUTCH Sports Group.

Illustrated by Nneka Myers, the story follows a boy whose elementary school football team is disbanded, inspiring him and his friends to rally together and save the day. Themes include community, perseverance and the impact of supportive advice.

Jalen Hurts said the book reflects lessons from his own childhood about resilience and doing something larger than oneself.
