Wiley appoints Jessica Kowalski to lead Research division in ai-driven growth push

Wiley (NYSE: WLY), a provider of content and research intelligence for the advancement of scientific discovery, innovation and learning, announced on Wednesday that it has appointed Jessica Kowalski as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Research, effective 11 May 2026, succeeding Jay Flynn, who is departing the company.

Kowalski joins Wiley from Microsoft with more than 20 years' experience across research publishing, data and AI-enabled businesses, including senior roles at Amazon Web Services and RELX. Her appointment supports Wiley's strategy to expand its AI and data analytics capabilities and translate its content portfolio into new products and business models for research publishing.

The company said it has accelerated partnerships with major technology companies and AI innovators in recent years to position its content within responsible AI development. The leadership change follows the recent appointment of a Chief AI and Data Services Officer and reflects a broader effort to strengthen capabilities aligned to industry transformation.

Flynn, who joined Wiley in 2010 and led the Research business from 2021, played a key role in advancing the company's open access strategy, expanding partnerships with academic institutions and societies, and enhancing publishing technology and early AI initiatives.
