Gallery Books to publish Jill Biden memoir View from the East Wing in June 2026

Book publisher Simon & Schuster announced on Wednesday that its imprint Gallery Books will publish View from the East Wing: A Memoir by Jill Biden on 2 June 2026.

Jill Biden's memoir will offer a personal account of her time as First Lady of the United States during a period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the 6 January United States Capitol attack.

The book reflects on the presidency of Joe Biden and its impact on the Biden family, including the period surrounding the unexpected end to the former president's re-election bid. The memoir also recounts Biden's experiences before, during and after her tenure in the White House.

According to Jennifer Bergstrom, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Gallery Books, the memoir highlights Jill Biden's advocacy on women's health, military families, cancer prevention and education during her time as First Lady. Biden also made history as the first First Lady to maintain a full-time career outside the East Wing while serving as a community college professor.

The book will take readers behind the scenes of life in the White House, including preparations for state dinners and family time at Camp David. Editorial Director Aimee Bell acquired world and audio rights from Deneen Howell at Williams & Connolly. An audiobook edition will be released simultaneously by Simon & Schuster Audio and narrated by the author.

Jill Biden previously authored the memoir Where the Light Enters and children's books including Don't Forget, God Bless Our Troops, Joey: The Story of Joe Biden, and Willow the White House Cat. She served as Second Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and currently chairs the Women's Health Network at the Milken Institute.
