Simon & Schuster appoints Greg Greeley as chief executive officer
Book publisher Simon & Schuster announced on Monday that it has appointed Greg Greeley as chief executive officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Jonathan Karp, who will remain as Publisher of a new imprint, Simon Six. Greeley and Karp will collaborate with publishing leadership to maintain continuity for authors, agents and employees while strengthening the company's editorial culture.
Greeley brings nearly two decades of experience at Amazon, where he held senior roles including leadership of the global Books and Media business. He oversaw initiatives such as print-on-demand publishing, the launch of Amazon's self-publishing platform, and expansion of its audiobook and book marketplace offerings. He also played a key role in Amazon Prime, including reader discovery programs like First Reads, Prime Reading and Audible offerings, and led international expansion efforts.
Following Amazon, Greeley served as President of Airbnb's Homes business, President and COO of Opentrons, and CEO of Thrasio. He has also advised and invested in technology and consumer companies through venture firms including Tapas Capital and TCV.
