Blackbird expands AI capabilities and launches token system on elevate.io

Video technology company Blackbird plc (AIM: BIRD) announced on Wednesday that it has introduced AI image generation and a new token-based system to its browser-based video editing platform, elevate.io, as part of a broader monetisation strategy.

This update adds AI image creation as the platform's second AI-driven feature, alongside improvements to the user interface, including timeline thumbnails and larger video tracks. These enhancements mark a key milestone in building a scalable revenue framework that will later extend to AI video generation and automated captioning services.

The company's newly launched token system allows users to redeem tokens for premium services, forming the basis for a usage-based revenue model. Monthly subscribers will receive token allocations, while free users can access paid features on a trial basis. The system also introduces incentives for user engagement, including rewards for referrals and social promotion.

Blackbird expects the launch to create new income streams and drive higher average revenue per user through additional AI feature usage.

The company operates in the SaaS, Media and Entertainment and content creation markets through two core products: Blackbird, a cloud-native video editing suite used by broadcasters and content producers, and elevate.io, its collaborative creator platform built on proprietary cloud technology. Blackbird also licenses its core video technology under its 'Powered by Blackbird' model to support industry partners transitioning to cloud workflows.
