Hofseth BioCare partners with Symrise to expand manufacturing and global market reach

Norwegian consumer and pet health company Hofseth BioCare ASA (OSE:HBC) said on Friday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Symrise AG (FRA:SY1), a German producer of flavours and fragrances, to scale its production capacity and expand its presence in the health and pet nutrition markets.

The collaboration includes a EUR5m loan from Symrise to fund a second enzymatic hydrolysis plant in Berkåk, Norway, tripling HBC's manufacturing capacity.

Symrise will complement its existing portfolio by incorporating HBC's clinically proven marine ingredients for consumer health. The partnership also includes an exclusive distribution agreement for HBC's OmeGo, ProGo and NT-II products across four of Symrise's global key accounts.

The loan, combined with a NOK60m credit facility from Sparebank 1 Nordmøre, fully funds the Berkåk facility conversion. Construction is expected to begin following regulatory approvals in the second quarter of 2025, with production targeted to commence by the second quarter of 2027.

HBC and Symrise will explore further collaborations in product development while leveraging Symrise's global reach to expand market penetration.

HBC's proprietary technology upcycles fresh salmon offcuts into bioactive ingredients. The partnership aims to enhance public awareness of marine-based health solutions and position HBC as a leader in science-driven marine nutrition.
