Smartkem secures UK grant for MicroLED display project
UK-based organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) technology company Smartkem (NASDAQ:SMTK) revealed on Wednesday that it has received a GBP900,000 (USD1.1m) grant from Innovate UK to support its project partnership with AUO to develop a rollable, transparent microLED display.
The two-year project, part of the 2024 UK-Taiwan Collaborative R&D Initiative, aims to advance display technology and will commence in January 2025.
The 2024 UK-Taiwan Collaborative R&D Initiative has invested more than GBP10m this year to promote bilateral industrial technology research and development cooperation. Nine award-winning projects will promote the joint development of advanced technologies by Taiwan-UK enterprises.
