British Consulate General Hong Kong funding opportunities 2026
BCG Hong Kong is inviting funding proposals for projects that support UK-Hong Kong collaboration, policy development and economic growth.
The British Consulate General Hong Kong (BCG Hong Kong) is inviting proposals from not-for-profit organisations, universities, research institutes, think tanks, professional associations and other suitably qualified organisations for a series of projects designed to strengthen UK-Hong Kong collaboration.
Through this programme funding round, BCG Hong Kong is seeking high-quality, evidence-based projects to support informed policy development, engagement and activities. The programme aims to draw on specialist expertise, research and stakeholder networks to generate practical insights on issues relevant to UK interests in Hong Kong.
We are launching three separate funding opportunities. 1. Hong Kong Open Societies Fund 2026 to 2027
Seeking proposals that improve UK understanding of civil society and social developments in Hong Kong. Areas of interest include community engagement, youth perspectives, social inclusion, education, culture and opportunities for collaboration on UK values.

Seeking proposals that enhance understanding of the factors shaping confidence in Hong Kong's commercial legal environment and its role as an international financial and business centre. Topics may include commercial dispute resolution, arbitration, regulatory developments, corporate governance, investor confidence.

Seeking proposals that support understanding of economic, commercial and investment opportunities relevant to UK-Hong Kong economic collaboration and UK prosperity objectives. Areas of interest include trade and market access, investment, financial services, sustainable finance, innovation, science and technology, education and skills, and other developments affecting economic growth.

Projects are expected to conclude by March 2027. Individual projects will typically be funded at approximately £30,000 to £50,000, subject to the quality of proposals received and the availability of funds. Who can apply
Applications are welcome from eligible not-for-profit organisations, including universities, research institutes, think tanks, professional associations, civil society organisations, community organisations and independent subject matter experts. Collaborative and consortium bids are encouraged where they strengthen delivery and broaden expertise. How to apply
Applicants should review the proposal guide for implementer (ODT, 16.1 KB) for the relevant funding opportunity and submit a project proposal form (ODT, 50.6 KB).
Proposals should set out intended outcomes, methodology, activities, delivery plans, budgets, risk management arrangements and monitoring and evaluation approaches. All projects are expected to begin from September 2026.
Applicants may submit clarification questions ahead of the submission deadline.
