Tropical Shipping orders four Konecranes mobile harbour cranes
US-based cargo operator Tropical Shipping has ordered four Konecranes Gottwald ESP.6 Mobile Harbor Cranes to support container handling in Florida and the US Virgin Islands, Konecranes Oyj (HEL: KCR) announced on Thursday.
The contract was booked in Q2 2026, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for Q2 2027.
Tropical Shipping has used the Finnish lifting equipment company's equipment for more than 20 years and already operates several earlier-generation mobile harbour cranes. The latest order introduces Konecranes' Generation 6 technology across key sites in its network.
One crane will be deployed at Riviera Beach, Florida, while St. Croix will receive one unit and St. Thomas two units. These will be the first mobile harbour cranes ever installed on St. Croix and St. Thomas, significantly increasing quayside handling capacity.
The agreement includes TRUCONNECT remote monitoring to support maintenance across Tropical Shipping's island operations. Remote diagnostics will help Konecranes provide proactive technical assistance and spare-parts support.
Konecranes' Ecolifting roadmap underpins the investment, offering a step-by-step approach to reducing tailpipe emissions through renewable diesel, hybrid and fully electric drive options.
