2026 Medal for Editorial Excellence awarded to Lee Boudreaux

Publishing company Pengiuin Random House revealed on Monday that Lee Boudreaux, Vice President and Executive Editor at Doubleday, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Medal for Editorial Excellence, awarded by the Center for Fiction in recognition of her contributions to book editing and literary publishing.

Boudreaux joined Doubleday in 2018 following editorial roles at Little, Brown and Company, Ecco and Random House. She is known for championing emerging writers and working with leading contemporary authors including Kate Atkinson, Margaret Atwood, Percival Everett, Bonnie Garmus, Andrew Sean Greer, Claire Lombardo, Madeline Miller, Maria Reva, Curtis Sittenfeld and Sunil Yapa.

Books edited by Boudreaux have received major literary honours including the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, Booker Prize, National Book Critics Circle Award, Women's Prize for Fiction, Orange Prize and multiple PEN awards.

Bill Thomas, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief at Doubleday, praised Boudreaux's advocacy for authors and her focus on publishing books she believes in rather than following market trends.

Boudreaux will receive the award at the Center for Fiction's Annual Awards Benefit in New York City on 8 December 2026. The Medal for Editorial Excellence recognises editors whose vision and support help shape literary culture. Previous recipients include Kate Medina, Kathryn Belden, Sarah McGrath, Alvina Ling and Chris Jackson, as well as Graywolf Press.
