Faber announces new Kazuo Ishiguro novel for 2027 release
Book publisher Faber announced on Tuesday that Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger, a new novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, will be published on 9 March 2027.
Set in London in 1938, the novel follows Richard Hadley, who encounters the mysterious Miss Lambert after a music hall performance and subsequently follows her from the English countryside to Scotland amid increasingly threatening circumstances. Faber described the book as an entertainment in which "nothing is quite as it seems".
Angus Cargill, Publishing Director and Ishiguro's editor, said the novel draws on the author's interest in music, art and Golden Age cinema, offering a new direction in his body of work.
Born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954, Ishiguro moved to Britain at the age of five. His work has earned major literary honours including the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Booker Prize, has been translated into more than 50 languages and has sold millions of copies worldwide.
In addition to his fiction writing, Ishiguro has worked as a screenwriter. His screenplay for Living received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations. Screen adaptations of his novels include The Remains of the Day, Never Let Me Go, A Pale View of Hills and Klara and the Sun.
