Power Metallic deploys Ideon's muon tomography at Nisk Lion Zone to advance deep exploration

Exploration company Power Metallic Mines Inc (TSXV: PNPN) (OTCBB: PNPNF) (Frankfurt: IVV1) announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Ideon Technologies to launch a borehole muon tomography imaging program at the Lion Zone within its Nisk polymetallic project in Quebec, Canada.

The six-month program will use Ideon's REVEAL platform to generate a high-resolution 3D density model covering more than 55 million cubic metres of rock. The technology detects cosmic-ray muons to map subsurface density variations, enabling deep exploration beyond the reach of conventional surface geophysics.

Power Metallic said the Lion Zone's dense sulphide mineralization makes it an ideal target for muon tomography. The initial phase will deploy detectors in dedicated drill holes and operate autonomously without geological constraints beyond surface topography.

The company plans to compare the resulting unconstrained tomographic model against its existing dataset of more than 100 drill holes to establish a calibrated density signature for Lion-style polymetallic mineralization. That model will then be applied across the broader 330 km² Nisk district to identify additional deep targets.

Power Metallic said the technology could significantly reduce drilling requirements while improving subsurface visibility, particularly below 200 metres depth where existing airborne and ground-based exploration methods become less effective.

The Nisk project includes the Nisk Main deposit, the Lion discovery and the Tiger Zone, where Lion-style mineralization has already been identified. The company believes the district remains largely underexplored at depth and sees muon tomography as a potential tool for unlocking new discoveries across the basin.
