Sony Renews JLPGA Sponsorship for Five Years

* Tournament to continue as the "SONY JLPGA CHAMPIONSHIP" until 2031

Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association

Sony Group Corporation ("Sony") and the Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association ("JLPGA") have extended their special sponsorship agreement, making Sony the tournament title partner of the JLPGA Championship hosted by the JLPGA for an additional five years starting from 2027. First signed as a three-year sponsorship agreement between Sony and the JLPGA from 2024, the tournament has and will continue to be held as the "SONY JLPGA CHAMPIONSHIP" from 2024 to 2031.

The JLPGA Championship has a long history of 58 years since its establishment in 1968. As one of the four major official events representing women's professional golf in Japan, the tournament has continued to impress golf fans with the participation of many of the top players from within Japan and invitees from across Asia each year.

The SONY JLPGA CHAMPIONSHIP was held at the Kanehide Kise Country Club (Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture) in 2024 and at the Oarai Golf Club (Higashiibaraki District, Ibaraki Prefecture) in 2025. As part of the Official DX (Digital Transformation) Partner agreement signed by the JLPGA and Sony also in 2025, several initiatives to create new Kando (emotion) experiences for fans were implemented at that year's tournament, including a variety of proof-of-concept technologies utilizing data to improve game-watching experiences.

Through collaboration with its group companies, Sony aims to enhance fan engagement at the JLPGA Championship, create new Kando experiences, and contribute to the further development of the sport. Tournament Info
