Columbia Group reinforces commitment to safety, human-centred management and inclusion in 2026 outlook

Columbia Group has set out its priorities for 2026 with a clear focus on safety, people and inclusive leadership, following a Christmas video message delivered to seafarers and colleagues across the organisation by President and CEO Mark O'Neil.

Reflecting on the year, the group highlighted steady operational progress across its global network, alongside a continued emphasis on the wellbeing of crew and colleagues as a long term priority for the business.

During 2025, Columbia Group expanded its service offering through entry into LNG vessel management, strengthening its capability across specialised vessel segments. Strong performance was also recorded across the Far East, where officers and teams in Singapore, China, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and Korea continue to play a central role in supporting global operations.

The group has further expanded its presence in the Philippines with increased office capacity. Solid momentum has also been maintained across the Middle East and Europe, including Greece, Germany, Scandinavia, Cyprus and Turkey.

Safety will remain a key focus moving into 2026, with the company encouraging a more personal approach to everyday decision making on board its vessels.

"Safety only truly works when it becomes personal," said Mr O'Neil. "If you think about safety in the same way you would if your own family were on board, you make better decisions. Our people are incredibly precious to us and to those waiting for them at home. As we look ahead to 2026, safety must have an even bigger focus across the organisation."

Columbia Group is also continuing its transition from a traditional crewing model to a fully human resource managed approach, designed to support long term careers both at sea and ashore.

"This is about managing people, not just filling positions," said Mr O'Neil. "It means focusing properly on career progression, health and fitness, fair compensation, education, training and family support. Our aim is for crew to feel just as much part of the Columbia family as colleagues ashore and to feel equally valued."

Diversity and inclusion remain core values for the group and continue to shape its culture and leadership approach. Columbia Group is focused on building an organisation where people from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are supported at every level of the business.

"Diversity strengthens the business," said Mr O'Neil. "And diversity goes far beyond gender. It is about creating an organisation where people of different backgrounds, beliefs and experiences can see a future for themselves within the company."

In closing, Columbia Group expressed its thanks to colleagues ashore and aboard for their dedication throughout the year, with recognition for seafarers spending the holiday period away from home.

"To those who are not able to be with their families over Christmas, we thank you sincerely for your commitment," said Mr O'Neil. "You are very much in our thoughts. We wish everyone across the Columbia Group family a safe Christmas and a successful 2026."
