Ahlstrom launches enhanced Disruptor water-filtration media
Finnish fibre-based specialty materials company Ahlstrom announced on Friday that it has launched an enhanced range of water-filtration materials based on its patented Disruptor technology, targeting drinking-water challenges across consumer, municipal and industrial markets.
In testing a challenge concentration based on the 95th percentile of UCMR 5 survey data, the new media was found to reduce concentrations of PFAS substances to as little as 5 parts per trillion. The material is also designed to deliver high chlorine and biological contaminant removal while maintaining a high flow rate, supporting long-lasting filtration without compromising water pressure in residential and commercial applications.
Engineered for gravity-flow drinking water systems, the media is undergoing NSF 42 review and is expected to be compliant upon completion.
Ahlstrom said the Disruptor filter material range is compatible with a wide variety of filter housings and system designs, including home water filters and pitcher systems, point-of-use and point-of-entry installations, and industrial applications.
The launch expands the Disruptor platform and reinforces Ahlstrom's focus on high-performance, fibre-based materials for filtration uses.
