Winners of the 2025 Lollies awards announced

Publisher Scholastic UK on Thursday announced the winners of the 2025 Laugh Out Loud Awards (The Lollies) in a ceremony at London's Southbank Centre, hosted by author, actor and presenter Stephen Mangan.

The awards celebrate children's funny books, with winners chosen by children. The event was attended by authors, illustrators, and publishing industry figures.

Guest participants included Lollies ambassador Michael Rosen, along with Thiago de Moraes, Anita Mangan, Serena Patel, Liz Pichon, and Jim Smith. Over 150 children also attended the event through a schools competition aimed at widening access and promoting reading for pleasure.

The winners were: There's Nothing Faster Than a Cheetah by Tom Nicoll and Ross Collins (Macmillan Children's Books) for Best Picture Book; Trixie Pickle Art Avenger: Toxic Takedown by Olaf Falafel (Puffin) for Ages 6-8; Evil Emperor Penguin: The World Will Be Mine! by Laura Ellen Anderson (David Fickling Books) for Ages 9-12; and Kay's Incredible Inventions by Adam Kay and illustrated by Henry Paker (Puffin) in the Non-Fiction category.

"Funny books bring joy. Simple as that," said Michael Rosen. "If you want to get children laughing and reading for pleasure -- look no further than this year's brilliant Lollies shortlist and winners."

Submissions for the 2026 Lollies will open soon.
