Nordic Semiconductor acquires Neuton.AI assets to strengthen edge AI capabilities
Norway-based fabless semiconductor company Nordic Semiconductor ASA (OSE:NOD) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the intellectual property and core technology assets of Neuton.AI, a developer of fully automated TinyML solutions for edge devices.
The move aligns with Nordic's strategy to expand its role in edge artificial intelligence.
Neuton.AI's platform enables the creation of machine learning models under 5 KB -- up to ten times smaller and faster than alternative solutions. This technology is expected to complement Nordic's low-power wireless offerings by enabling highly efficient, always-on AI at the edge.
The acquisition includes Neuton.AI's IP and a team of 13 engineers and data scientists. The Neuton.AI platform and brand will remain operational during the integration phase to ensure continuity for existing users.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Completion of the deal is subject to regulatory approvals.
