London - The CIBD Board of Trustees today announce the appointment of Matt Anderson as the new CEO of the CIBD.

Matt will start on the 1st of December 2026.

Matt will be joining CIBD from Sunrise Beverages where he has held a number of senior leadership roles, most recently as Brand Director. Having originally joined Curious Brewery (part of Sunrise Beverages) as Head of Production in 2018, he has played a significant role in the development of the business through a period of substantial growth and change.

Earlier in his career, Matt spent over a decade with AB-InBev in Quality, Brewing and Packaging management roles, including at Magor and Salmesbury.

Matt also brings personal experience with the CIBD to his new position, as a CIBD Diploma graduate and serving on the CIBD Southern Section Committee since 2019.

The board was impressed by Matt's vision for the institute and his ability to understand the organisational priorities. He demonstrated a combination of strategic vision, operational excellence and strong people leadership that the board believes will help CIBD deliver meaningful measurable results.

The appointment comes as the CIBD gears up for the next phase in its journey as a chartered institute with work being done to revitalise the exam qualifications to meet the needs of the industry, and to strengthen its global presence through conferences and section events in Australia, Africa, US and around the UK.

Commenting on the appointment, Raphael Grisoni, the President of the CIBD said:

"We are delighted to welcome Matt to the CIBD. Matt is a dynamic leader who brings many years of experience, which combined with his industry knowledge, team management skills and understanding of the challenges and opportunities for the CIBD, will inject fresh thinking and momentum into the CIBD, unlocking new opportunities and building a stronger platform for sustainable growth over the long term.

We would also like to thank Carling Recruitment who advised us on the appointment of Matt as the CEO."

Matt said,

"I am incredibly excited to be joining CIBD as it enters its next chapter. CIBD has been an important part of my own career for many years, as a student, a member and as an employer, and I've experienced personally the role it can play in helping people develop and progress within our industry.

I am really looking forward to building on those strong foundations, ensuring CIBD continues to connect with Brewers and Distillers throughout their careers, as well as adding value to our partners, suppliers and employers across the industry.

I'm excited about what we can achieve and can't wait to get started."
