Nexstim expands Health Canada approval for NBS 6
Finland-based medical technology company Nexstim Plc (FN HEL:NXTMH) said on Friday that it has received Health Canada approval to expand the approved indications for its NBS 6 system to include diagnostic applications and the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain in Canada.
The NBS 6 was previously approved in Canada in 2024 for the treatment of major depressive disorder. The expanded licence allows Nexstim to market the system for pre-procedural speech and motor cortex mapping, major depressive disorder treatment and chronic neuropathic pain treatment.
The company has operated in the Canadian market for several years, with Health Canada approving the NBS System 5 and NexSpeech for pre-procedural mapping in 2019 and the NBT System for major depressive disorder treatment later that year.
Nexstim said the NBS 6 was launched for therapy use in Europe and the United States in 2023 and for diagnostic use in those markets in 2025. The modular platform is based on the company's SmartFocus nTMS technology and combines diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities for clinical and research applications.
