SIR THOMAS LIPTON FOUNDATION LOOKS TO THE FUTURE WITH INDUSTRY SUPPORT IN SURVEY TO TEST TWO INNOVATIONS
As one of the nominated partner charities for London International Shipping Week 2027, the Sir Thomas Lipton Foundation is seeking views on two bold innovations designed to close the gap between young people and the industry in both directions.
Through its successful Buoyed Up programme, for more than 15 years the Foundation has opened a window for disadvantaged youngsters on the brink of critical teenage years into what shipping and maritime industries can offer in skills, training and global career opportunities. In Buoyed Up they learn to sail, meet cadets, get the basics of design, navigation, engineering and what maritime tech or finance can do.
The experience of the Foundation is that far too many young teenagers are unaware of the broad spectrum of opportunities that the shipping, maritime and associated industries have to offer; and is concerned that talented and tech-savvy young people have little chance to show the industries what skills and imagination they have.
Laurence Brady, Founder and Director of the Sir Thomas Lipton Foundation, is asking for direct feedback on innovations outlined in the survey which are designed to address these issues and enable the Foundation to widen its impact at the same time. Feedback is requested in the form of a simple and quick survey of seven statements with which to agree or disagree.
"Our Look To The Future survey takes no more than two minutes to complete. We would be most grateful for as much feedback as possible. So, we are inviting anyone and everyone across the shipping and maritime industries to let us know whether they think that these innovations will catch the imagination of young people; and whether they give individual shipping companies and diverse maritime organisations and associated businesses an opportunity to think differently about how they present themselves to those whose lives just might be transformed by the sea. Thank you."
