New online form makes it easier to register as a veterinary medicines internet retailer
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has launched a new online registration form for retailers wishing to sell veterinary medicines on the internet, replacing the previous Word document version.
The new form is part of the VMD's ongoing work to digitise its processes, making it simpler and more efficient for our customers to complete and submit various application and registration forms.
Anyone retailing prescription veterinary medicines online - including POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS categories - is required by law to be registered with the VMD before they begin trading. The new online form can be found on the Sell veterinary medicines on the internet guidance page on GOV.UK. No action required if you are already registered
Retailers who are already listed on the VMD's Register of Online Retailers, or who are registered under the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS), do not need to do anything. This change only affects those making a new application to join the register.
Applications must be submitted at least two months before online sales of the relevant medicines begin.
For any queries about registration, contact the VMD via our contact form.
