Andy Brittain joins GIAA as Interim Chief Executive
* The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) is delighted to welcome Andy Brittain, who has today joined the Agency as Interim Chief Executive.
Andy brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished career in finance roles across government, most recently as Director General for Finance and Group Operations at the Department of Health and Social Care. His deep familiarity with government means he already knows and has experienced the value of GIAA's work first-hand.
Andy's arrival follows the news that Harriet Aldridge, who has led GIAA since December 2023, is taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer at the Cabinet Office. Under Harriet's leadership, GIAA has continued to grow and strengthen, building on its reputation as the government's trusted provider of internal audit services. We wish her every success in her new role.
Isobel Everett, Chair of the GIAA Board, welcomed Andy to the Agency:
"Andy has enjoyed a long career leading the finance functions of many large and complex organisations. I am delighted that he is joining us as our new interim chief executive, bringing all of his expertise and experience. Andy joins a strong and stable organisation that, under the tenure of Harriet Aldridge, has continued to grow and mature - increasing levels of insight across government and providing assurance that public funds are used efficiently and effectively."
Andy responded:
"I am immensely pleased to be taking up this role with GIAA. Having spent my career in senior finance roles across government, I have already experienced GIAA's work as a client and found it to be genuinely insightful and valuable. I am excited to be leading an Agency that makes such a real difference to so many organisations across government." (Quote - TBC)
Andy will lead GIAA while a permanent recruitment exercise is carried out, which is expected to conclude by the summer.
