From intern to executive: how my professional journey began

When my internship ended, I was overwhelmed by the question: What now? Then I had my first interview at Telefónica for the role of B2B Collections Coordinator.Taking steps

And guess what? I didn't get the job, but it was the first step. Weeks later, thanks to that experience, I was given the opportunity to take on a new challenge: becoming a Service Centre Executive at Telefónica in Venezuela. My first opportunity in the working world, my first tears and laughter in an environment that was no longer just student life, those first steps in an organisation were taken in the corridors of Telefónica. And who doesn't remember their first job? It's the most significant in a person's career because it's the real experience of learning from others and discovering your strengths and opportunities for improvement. It's a whole new discovery.

It wasn't easy, and it still isn't. Talking to customers all day long is a much greater challenge than mastering processes or tools. But I decided to take it on, and every day I learn more: from my supervisors, colleagues and, above all, from every interaction with those who trust our service. Every conversation is an opportunity to improve, to better understand the needs of others, to practise empathy and to grow as a professional.

Amidst Excel spreadsheets, coffee, systems, people and goals to achieve, I understood that every challenge is a lesson. And in a company that is committed to young talent in such a changing environment, which is in the news every day in the digital media, I look back and only reaffirm my commitment to education, preparation and continuous growth on a path that is just beginning. The reasons

Why do I want to share this very personal story? Because I saw and had the opportunity to get my first job in a transnational company that always invests in young talent, and because I want to send a message to the young people of my generation and those who are still in training. It is a reflection for those who are just starting out or still have doubts: Your first job does not define who you are, but it does teach you who you can become. Get ready, be bold, ask questions, make mistakes, learn... and above all, believe in yourself. Because challenges are part of the journey, and each one brings with it an opportunity for transformation. The journey is just beginning.
