American Airlines to resume services between New York JFK and Tokyo's Haneda Airport
American Airlines on Wednesday announced plans to resume its services from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, from 1 June 2012.
Haneda is the closest airport to the central commercial area of Tokyo and this flight will place travellers 20 minutes away from key downtown business districts.
American Airlines briefly flew between JFK and Haneda from 18 February 2011, but was forced to suspend operations when demand for travel to Japan subsided following the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Daily services are scheduled to leave New York JFK at 18:55 and arrive in Tokyo Haneda at 22:15 the next day, with return services leaving Tokyo Haneda at 06:50 and arriving back in New York JFK at 06:40 the same day.
The new American Airlines flight will be operated with a Boeing 777-200ER that can accommodate 247 passengers, seating 16 in First Class, 37 in Business Class and 194 in the Main Cabin. The First Class cabin is outfitted with the carrier's Flagship Suite in a 1-2-1 configuration.
American Airlines, American Eagle and the AmericanConnection carriers currently serve 260 airports in over 50 countries and territories with, on average, over 3,500 daily services. The combined network fleet numbers more than 900 aircraft.
