Kongsberg secures NOK16bn counter-UAS contract in Poland
Norwegian technology group Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (OSE:KOG) announced on Friday that its defence subsidiary Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) and consortium partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa have signed a contract with the Polish Armaments Agency to deliver counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS) designed to address evolving aerial threats.
This agreement is valued at approximately NOK16bn for KONGSBERG and covers the delivery of 18 counter-UAS batteries under the SAN CUAS programme.
The batteries will integrate multiple effectors, including 35 mm, 30 mm, and 12.7 mm guns, missiles, and interceptor drones, supported by a command-and-control architecture developed by PGZ subcontractor Advanced Protection Systems. The system will be fully integrated with Poland's national air defence capabilities and is intended to enable distributed sensor and effector operations.
KONGSBERG intends to increase its manufacturing capacity and capabilities in Poland to support higher defence system output.
The solution is based on the company's PROTECTOR family of weapon systems, including the Medium Caliber Turret MCT30 and remote weapon stations, with 70 mm guided missiles designated as the primary weapon.
To date, KONGSBERG has delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR remote weapon systems to over 30 countries.
