The Major Sports Events Committee has awarded "M" Mark status to the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026 and the Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show 2026.

The marathon will be held on January 18 while the horse show will be held from January 30 to February 1.

Committee Chairman Wilfred Ng said today that the two events allow local citizens and tourists to experience the allure of sports and highlight Hong Kong's diverse culture and vibrant energy, strengthening the city's position as a centre for major international sports events.

He noted that the marathon stands out as one of the city's most popular running events, which attracts professional and amateur runners from around the world to showcase their competitive spirit against the backdrop of Hong Kong's unique urban landscape.

The international horse show, to be held at AsiaWorld-Expo, will showcase the elegance and power of equestrianism splendidly, Mr Ng added.
