M&S Brixton Road has reopened this morning, following a seven-month makeover to transform the shopping experience for customers.

Store Manager Mark Aldridge was joined by special guest Percy Pig to host the ribbon cutting moment and officially declare the store back open. Local Steel Band players, London All Stars were also on site as part of the celebrations.

Inside the brand-new fresh market-style foodhall, customers can find a show-stopping bakery with a selection of fresh breads - including the retailer's popular Collection Sourdough - with each loaf made through a 30-hour process and pastries baked throughout the day, as well as offering takeaway hot drinks, including barista-made coffee such as M&S' famous Magic Coffee.

The store also has a Hot Chicken Counter, offering whole BBQ and butter basted chickens, and with a wider selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks and drinks available to grab go and enjoy, South London customers will definitely be spoilt for choice!

Over 100 Remarksable value everyday staples are available across the store, price benchmarked against key competitors and with an M&S quality point of difference - all part of the retailer's trusted value promise.

Other highlights include a transformed Flower Shop and Wine Shop, as well as Click and Collect for online Clothing, Home and Beauty orders.

With the festive season just around the corner, M&S Brixton Road shoppers will be able to stock up on the most magical Christmas food line up from Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey to the build your own Charcuter-Tree, along with recently launched Choc Marks bars and Swiss Caramel and Milk Chocolate Clouds.

Further to the renewal, the launch was also a chance to mark 100 years of M&S in Brixton as this was the first store the retailer opened in London. The Foodhall will also house interior artwork and external mural designed by Create Not Destroy - talented creatives known for their roots in early London graffiti art culture.

The transformation is part of a £30m investment by M&S in its London stores announced earlier this year.

Since April, the retailer has opened two brand-new foodhalls in London, at Friern Barnet and Sidcup, as well as renewing its Chancery Lane, Teddington and Blackheath stores alongside Brixton Road.

Store Manager Mark Aldridge leads the store's 100 strong team and said of the store being back open:

We've been part of the Brixton community for over 100 years and it is brilliant to be unveiling the best possible store with the most amazing M&S products, offering innovation, trusted value and that all important M&S magic. It's particularly special for me to be celebrating my 20th year with M&S this year and I couldn't be prouder to be leading the team. We know our customers will absolutely love the changes as much as we do and I'd encourage everyone to come down and see the transformation for themselves!"
