BigBear.ai deploys AI supply chain security platform in Panama Canal logistics hub
Defence technology company BigBear.ai (NYSE: BBAI) on Wednesday announced the first commercial deployment of its AI-powered cargo security platform in Panama through a new agreement with PTG (Panama Transshipment Group), the country's largest logistics operator.
This deployment forms part of a collaboration with International Shipping Compliance S.A. (ISC) and Narval Holding Corp, delivering an AI-enabled International Shipping Compliance application designed to enhance visibility and security across high-volume transshipment flows in the Panama Canal region.
The platform uses biometric verification, advanced analytics and real-time data aggregation to track cargo, verify handlers and detect anomalies across the supply chain. It provides an auditable chain-of-custody record linking drivers, vehicles, containers and security seals to improve transparency for customs and border authorities.
BigBear.ai said the system is intended to strengthen detection of contraband and reduce illicit trade risks in one of the world's most critical logistics corridors, which handles an estimated 5-6% of global maritime trade and around 10 million TEUs annually.
The solution is compliant with BASC and C-TPAT security standards and is already being used by PTG to enhance operational transparency in Panama's "dry canal" logistics network.
