NKT secures multi-year cable supply deals with EnBW to support German grid expansion
Danish power cable manufacturer NKT A/S (CPH: NKT) announced on Friday that it has signed two new multi-year framework agreements with German electric services company EnBW Energie Baden Wuerttemberg AG (ETR: EBK) to supply low and medium voltage power cables in support of Germany's energy transition, extending a partnership that spans over 25 years.
The contracts cover a fixed three-year term, with an option to extend for an additional two years. NKT will deliver a broad range of 1 kV to 30 kV cables from its production sites in Kladno and Velke Mezirící in the Czech Republic.
EnBW, headquartered in Karlsruhe, supplies over 5.5m customers and plans to invest EUR40bn by 2030 to modernise its electricity infrastructure. The company aims to generate 75-80% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and achieve full climate neutrality by 2035.
The agreements strengthen NKT's position in the growing German utility market as demand increases for grid infrastructure capable of supporting decentralised energy sources like solar, wind, and battery storage.
